We had been in the market for 12 months and in that time met countless agents, many of whom were big name agencies, with highly polished ads but who turned out to be unethical and disinterested. Most agents did not engage with the buyers and knew very little about the property and the vendor’s instructions. The auction price guides were all misleading and some agents even said they did not know what the property was worth. In many cases, agents disclosed the value of offers to other buyers, encouraging “Dutch auctions” and gazumping. Our experience with these agents as purchasers means we would never engage them when it’s our turn to be vendors.

As we walked around, you asked us how it felt and were able to answer our questions about the property. Importantly, while another offer had been made, you didn’t disclose it. While we paid our top dollar, we were happy to do so because you were so honest, hardworking and diligent, especially in communicating our interests to the vendor. In short, you helped us secure our home without the heartache the other agents had put us through (which is invaluable) and made the experience a quick and happy one.
